The College is seeking a passionate individual to serve as an adult school transition liaison supporting enrollment from adult schools in the Fremont, Newark, and Union City region. The College would like to strengthen the pathway and services offered to these students by having a consistent and coordinated presence on the adult school campuses. This position provides the employee(s) with the skills, expertise, and experience necessary to enter professional roles in high school, adult school, and higher education environments.
This opportunity will equip the employee with general and in-depth knowledge of a vast range of student support services and programs.
- This is a temporary short-term position, limited to a maximum of 165 working days within a fiscal year.
- This position is not eligible for medical, dental, or vision benefits through the District.
- Holidays and vacations are unpaid.
- Sick leave is accrued in accordance with applicable state law.
- Employees who work over 1,000 hours in a fiscal year will be enrolled in CalPERS.
Under general direction of an assigned supervisor, the Adult School Transition Liaison (ASTL) will work with consortium members and partners to guide prospective learners from the Tri-City adult schools along their pathway to Ohlone College. Through a consistent and coordinated on-campus presence, the ASTL will cultivate meaningful relationships with prospective students, school personnel and community members while promoting awareness of Ohlone College’s opportunities and educational pathways.
ASTLs will provide personalized guidance throughout the matriculation journey by sharing information and resources, answering questions, conducting outreach and recruitment activities, and assisting students with enrollment and onboarding processes. The Adult School Transition Liaison is essential to creating a model for student integration into the college to increase opportunities for success by introducing the college and its services to incoming adult school students.
This position is renewable on an annual basis and shall work a maximum of 30 hours per week. The assignment will span over 45 weeks per year including regular and summer terms.
AssessmentAdult School Transition Liaison will work under the direction and supervision of a college administrator. Their progress is measured each semester through direct observation, student surveys, mentoring, and ongoing training sessions.
