Position Overview

The Waste Coordinator will oversee and coordinate day‑to‑day waste management and waste operational activities of their assigned branch(es) under the direction of the General Manager. The Waste Coordinator will work closely with the Waste Services Manager and/or Director of Waste Services to collaborate with Operations, Sales, and the waste services team to ensure all activities are managed safely, efficiently and in compliance with all local, state, and federal agencies.

This role will require strong knowledge of overall waste management, generator status, regulatory compliance, and DOT compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
  • Proficient use and understanding of Waste LINQ software program to include accurate data entry, preparation and printing of accurate manifests/labels/LDR’s, generating waste reports, and completing job packets for operations.
  • Waste profiling management to include generating and submitting accurate profiles to TSDF’s for approval, managing profile amendments/expirations, verifying accurate pricing for approved and active profiles.
  • Assist in managing on‑site 10‑Day activities, waste storage requirements, applicable inspections and required record keeping.
  • Coordinate with Sales and/or Operations for both internal and external customer waste pick‑ups and waste deliveries to TSDF’s to ensure waste is properly routed and in compliance.
  • Perform lab packing activities, job walks, accurate waste inventory lists, sampling, waste characterization, assist/accompany drivers to perform complex waste pick‑ups, help support HHW collection events.
  • Oversee and assist with branch Non‑Haz/VSQG bulking, consolidation, re‑packaging, drum in drum out waste programs.
  • Work closely with Operations and GMS to ensure all waste generated from ER’s is managed, manifested, labeled, stored, and disposed of properly.
  • Work closely with Operations and GHD/UPRR to ensure that all waste activities are timely and efficient, serve as the main point of contact for GHD representatives.
  • Perform internal and external audits of Non‑Hazardous and Hazardous waste manifests periodically to ensure accuracy and compliance as well as provide applicable training and oversight when needed.
  • Assist with reviewing and approving 3rd party transportation and disposal vendor invoices.
  • Assist sales and operations teams with high level pricing requests for unique waste streams and/or large RFP projects.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with 49

    CFR 171 and 40 CFR 265 requirements.
  • High level of knowledge with OSHA, DOT and RCRA regulations pertaining to hazardous waste handling and transportation.
  • Willing to travel between 25-50% of the time inclusive of overnight stays.
  • Safety oriented mindset with the determination to follow all procedures and policies.
  • Experience learning new systems and providing subsequent training for support staff and new employees.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience Required
  • 40‑Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or equivalent science discipline.
  • Class “B” CLD license with hazardous materials endorsements preferred.
  • Experience with handling, characterizing, packaging, transporting, and manifesting hazardous and non‑hazardous waste.
