Hire Art is helping our client find an Engineering Technician, Powertrain Systems, to join its team. In this role, you’ll support the design, development, testing, and production of power delivery and energy systems tailored for the company’s autonomous mobility service. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician with strong electrical and powertrain fundamentals who enjoys working in lab and field environments and supporting advanced EV systems.
Responsibilities- Build and prepare electrical and electronic (EE) test hardware down to the component level.
- Troubleshoot EE test hardware at the component and subsystem levels.
- Perform approved high-voltage enable and disable procedures.
- Collaborate with design engineers to develop test systems that meet engineering requirements.
- Fabricate, update, and repair wire harnesses for EVs in various stages of development.
- Support engineering lab readiness by maintaining inventory, workspace organization, and calibrated test and measurement equipment.
- Perform firmware updates on embedded hardware systems in the lab and field.
- Support battery testing, teardown, and analysis activities as needed.
- Execute servicing and repair tasks safely and methodically once trained.
- Associate degree or trade certification in mechatronics, electronics, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 4+ years of experience supporting automotive wire harnesses, EV powertrain systems, or electrical systems development
- High- and low-voltage safety training with understanding of basic electrical diagnostics
- Hands-on experience fabricating, repairing, and validating wire harnesses (soldering, crimping, stripping, circuit management)
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, harness drawings, and technical work instructions
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting power electronics and low-voltage PCBA circuits
- Proficiency using electrical test and measurement equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, electronic loads, DAQ systems)
- Experience working with high-voltage EV components, batteries, cabling, and test systems (e.g., Arbin or similar)
- Strong interest in electric and autonomous vehicle systems
- Willingness to travel locally or nationally as needed
- Familiarity with manual metal fabrication tools and processes (milling, lathe, drill, press, bandsaw, shear, TIG/MIG welding)
- Experience with 3D design tools such as Solid Works, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, or CATIA
- Through-hole and surface-mount soldering and rework experience
- Exposure to EMI/EMC testing techniques
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification (CSE preferred)
- High-voltage certification and training
- Technical trade school certificate or associate degree in automotive engineering

This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via Hire Art. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Fremont, CA area.
