Roles & Responsibilities

Responsible for the hands-on execution of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing at the vehicle level. This includes test planning, physical setup, technical bring-up, and systematic testing of vehicles in both internal and external laboratory environments. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure proper vehicle configuration, operational test infrastructure, and accurate data capture to validate performance against internal specifications and global standards.

Key Responsibilities
1. Vehicle Preparation and Bring-Up
  • Communicate with vehicle program teams to understand timelines and deliverables; draft test plans and arrange schedules/logistics.
  • Physically prepare prototype vehicles for EMC testing (install fiber optic converters, current probes, specialized test harnesses).
  • Ensure vehicle systems are in the correct state for testing (HV battery engaged, communication buses active).
  • Collaborate with software teams to flash firmware versions and activate test modes for lab sessions.
2. Test Execution & Scripting
  • Execute test cases for Radiated/Conducted Emissions and Immunity per test plan.
  • Develop and use automation scripts (Bash, Python, etc.) to control vehicle functions and monitor bus traffic (CAN/LIN/Ethernet).
  • Maintain detailed logs of configurations, software versions, and hardware revisions for each test run.
3. Lab Operations & Coordination
  • Perform testing in-house and at external labs to support vehicle-level validation.
  • Work with external lab technicians to set up vehicles on dynamo meters or turntables.
  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics for vehicle/equipment movement to test facilities.

  • Capture and organize raw test data; provide preliminary analysis to identify trends or anomalies.
  • Support design teams by verifying hardware fixes (e.g., ferrites, grounding improvements) through quick-look testing.
  • Collaborate with engineers to resolve EMC test failures via deep-dive experiments at module level.
5. Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain in-house test capabilities, including new instrumentation commissioning and calibration.
