What to Expect
Tesla is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support production equipment and processes in dry electrode manufacturing lines. You will work closely with Process, Quality, and Production teams to implement continuous improvements to existing equipment. You will also plan and manage new production line installations. The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems, and in this role, you will have the opportunity to drive manufacturing costs down while maintaining industry‑leading product quality.
WhatYou'll Do
- Prepare equipment documentation packages including 3D models, fabrication drawings, BOM, PFMEA, and risk assessments.
- Write manufacturing instructions to document details of equipment setup and function.
- Assist maintenance and process technicians with timely resolution of line down events.
- Lead major equipment overhauls during scheduled upgrade campaigns.
- Drive continuous improvements to increase equipment OEE, safety, ergonomics, and process yield.
- Create new manufacturing line layouts in collaboration with factory design teams.
- Write equipment technical specifications and closely collaborate with external OEMs to develop custom equipment.
- Implement and validate manufacturing equipment upgrades in high‑speed production lines.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of engineering experience in an industrial setting.
- Hands‑on experience supporting manufacturing line operation and driving continuous improvement projects.
- Experience drawing machine or production line layouts in 2D (AutoCAD preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Experience designing fixtures and tooling in 3D (Solid Works preferred).
- Experience with new production line launches.
- Experience with industrial hydraulic systems and best operational practices to maintain such systems.

$91,600 - $195,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
