Position: Staff PV Module Engineer
What to Expect

Tesla is looking for a motivated and accomplished Staff PV Module Engineer to help create our next generation of PV modules and qualify and evaluate end use cell performance. You will play a key role in developing and optimizing future cell and module design for performance and value. Up to 30% travel will be required.

What You'll Do

* Develop, simulate, prototype and launch module designs working closely with pilot, manufacturing, reliability, and certification teams

* Evaluate end use cell performance and scrutinize cell-to-module losses using appropriate metrology and imaging

* Evaluate new technologies for stringing cells, corresponding PV module architectures, and supporting cell changes required

* Develop and own electrical specifications and controls for product components

* Drive engineering projects and cross-functional and supplier support and testing

What You'll Bring

* Deep understanding of at least one photovoltaic technology or component

* Proficient in modeling circuits and thermal behavior

* Working knowledge of power electronics, thermal and mechanical engineering, and reliability failure modes

* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to use first principle reasoning, and exceptional organization and communication skills

* Detailed-oriented, able to work both independently and in a collaborative project-focused environment

* Experience with and understanding of different cell stringing technologies, especially multi-wire

* Experience launching electrical designs for high volume manufacturing

* Understanding of IEC requirements and test methods for PV modules

* Experience modeling energy yield or building data acquisition systems for PV monitoring

* Ability to quantitatively utilize and interpret diagnostic imaging such as EL and thermography

Expected Compensation

$192,000 - $288,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
