Job Description & How to Apply Below
What to Expect

Tesla is revolutionizing the world's energy and transportation systems through cutting-edge infrastructure. As a Construction Benchmark Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in establishing, validating, and optimizing construction performance standards across infrastructure projects. You will define measurable benchmarks for construction efficiency, quantities, hours, and costs-enabling data-driven decision-making, continuous improvement, and scalability across Tesla's rapidly expanding footprint.

This role sits at the intersection of construction/industrial, data analytics, and process engineering. You will work closely with project managers, design engineers, self-perform, and cross-functional teams to standardize performance metrics, identify inefficiencies, and drive cost savings in construction execution.

What You'll Do

* Define and Implement Construction Benchmarks:
Establish key quantity input and output metrics for construction phases (e.g.,pre development, development, active, closeout) across different project types (Gigafactories, Megapack sites, Supercharger hubs)

* Data Collection & Validation:
Design and deploy systems to collect real-time construction data (labor hours, material, schedule of values, quantities, unit rates) from field teams and integrated project management tools

* Performance Analysis & Reporting:
Analyze construction performance data using AI models and data visualization tools. Generate actionable insights and reports for leadership, highlighting trends, outliers, and improvement opportunities

* Benchmark Calibration:
Continuously refine benchmarks based on project outcomes, technological advancements (e.g., modular construction, robotics), and regional variables (labor markets, supply chains, regulations)

* Cross-Project Benchmarking:
Compare performance across multiple sites and projects to identify best practices and systemic inefficiencies. Promote knowledge sharing and standardization

* Collaborate with Engineering & Operations:
Partner with design, procurement, and operations teams to align construction benchmarks with design intent, manufacturing requirements, and long-term asset performance

* Support Digital Tools Development:
Work with software engineers to integrate benchmarking logic into Tesla's internal construction management platforms (e.g., Project management, Hours Tracking, BIM tools)

* Drive Continuous Improvement:
Lead pilot initiatives to test new construction methods or technologies, measuring their impact against established benchmarks

What You'll Bring

* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, or the equivalent in experience

* 5+ years in construction engineering, project controls, or performance benchmarking within large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects (preferably in manufacturing, energy, or heavy civil)

* Proficiency in data analysis (Python, SQL, Excel Advanced), statistical modeling, and data visualization (Power BI)

* Experience with contractual construction requirements (Schedule of Values, T&M, Lum Sump)

* Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and digital twin concepts is a plus

* Proven track record in establishing performance metrics or KPIs in construction environments

* Ability to distill complex field data into clear, actionable insights

* Strong written and verbal communication skills to present findings to technical and executive audiences

* Experience working in high-speed, high-precision manufacturing or energy infrastructure environments (e.g., Energy, Cell Manufacturing, Refineries) is a plus
