What to Expect

As a Project Manager for Commercial Software within the Vehicle Engineering Commercial Software Team, this role focuses on leading the evaluation, sourcing, and optimization of engineering software solutions across the global design engineering organization. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance, cost efficiency, and effective allocation of software resources. Collaboration with engineering stakeholders, software product managers, global supply management, finance, legal, infosec, and IT is essential to procure best-in-class software tools aligned with business needs.

This position drives software asset optimization by maximizing availability while minimizing total cost of ownership, leading cross-functional teams, and building strong supplier partnerships to secure cutting-edge technology solutions.

What You'll Do

* Lead cross-functional teams to evaluate, select, procure, and optimize software solutions for seamless integration and adoption

* Optimize software usage and license management to ensure cost-effective utilization of engineering tools

* Manage cross-functional optimization projects to meet agreed timelines and deliver measurable results

* Identify opportunities to consolidate tools, improving commercial positions and reducing vendor management overhead

* Ensure compliance with vendor agreements and internal policies while documenting license policies and best practices

* Develop scripts or utilize automation tools to streamline license tracking and reporting

* Leverage monitoring tools like OpenLM to generate detailed analytics on software usage

What You'll Bring

* Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field, or equivalent experience

* Proven project management experience with the ability to lead and drive accountability in cross-functional teams within a fast-paced environment

* Capability to interface with diverse teams to understand needs and deliver balanced, cost-effective solutions

* Strong understanding of design engineering software and evaluation frameworks

* Basic knowledge of floating, named-user, and token-based licensing models

* Excellent analytical skills with experience in industry analysis, cost modeling, and supplier selection

* Familiarity with license management tools such as OpenLM or Flexera

* Hands-on experience with Engineering Design tools and software license managers like FLEXlm, DSLS, RLM, and OpenLM
