Job Description
This hybrid Engineering role (3 days/week in Fremont, CA) is responsible for managing product certification and compliance projects from scope definition through completion. The position involves direct client interaction, technical evaluation of products, coordination with internal teams, and ensuring compliance with UL standards while delivering high-quality service and maintaining strong client relationships.
Responsibilities- Define project scope, develop investigation plans, and determine specifications (cost, timeline, and sample requirements) based on client input, product construction, and supporting data
- Travel as needed to client sites to conduct or witness testing
- Initiate and maintain client communication to promote and explain UL services
- Follow up on client inquiries and maintain ongoing relationships
- Communicate technical requirements, project scope, timelines, and costs to clients
- Address and resolve client concerns in a timely manner
- Provide technical guidance related to product inspection and follow-up services
- Establish appropriate test programs by reviewing documentation, product specifications, and UL requirements
- Evaluate samples for compliance and notify clients of any non-conformities or scope changes
- Maintain knowledge of applicable standards, technical literature, and UL procedures
- Analyze test programs for adequacy and sequence
- Coordinate laboratory activities, including:
- Preparing data sheets and technical instructions
- Scheduling and reviewing work of technicians and engineering assistants
- Defining project timelines and completion dates
- Manage administrative aspects of project execution
- Communicate project status and results through reports and client interaction
- Prepare Follow-Up Service Procedures and supporting documentation
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
- Resolve engineering issues related to Variation Notices
- Contribute to the development of UL requirements, test methods, and equipment
- Conduct or support file reviews as needed
- Represent UL at industry events such as seminars and trade shows
- Adhere to UL Code of Conduct and all security practices
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Electrical Engineering preferred)
- Experience with IT equipment preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Total Rewards:
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $78,500 to $104,600 and is based on multiple factors, including job‑related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary.
