In Fremont, CA, we serve large global clients in telecom and datacom industries with next-generation optical modules and line-card solutions.
What You Will Do- Responsible for optical design of EDFA, Raman, integrated optical module and circuit pack, and ROADM subsystems for telecom and DCI applications.
- Lead optical design, validation, and troubleshooting, working with global multi‑site resources to complete product development, NPI cycle, and flawless production launching in offshore manufacturing sites.
- Work with marketing and PLM on optical amplifier and ROADM product RFP/RFQ response, specification negotiation, and customer technical support.
- Define optical component specifications to be used in the products.
- Develop and maintain optical calibration and testing bed for full characterization of optical component and module performance measurement.
- Provide technical support for field operations, including issue investigation, log analysis, and resolution of optical network problems.
- Domestic and international travel is expected.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Optical, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or Physics and at least 5 years of optical design experience, or a PhD in the same fields with prior internship experience.
- Knowledge of Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA), Raman, and other optical amplifier technologies.
- Experience in optical testing engineering, data analysis, process development, and quality tools.
- Experience with design for manufacturability and reliability.
- Experience in fiber optical module and circuit pack manufacturing processes, including fiber routing and splicing, optical/mechanical/electrical integration assembly, and related activities.
- Advanced degree highly desired.
- Experience in optical amplifier (EDFA, Raman, etc.) design, modeling, and testing.
- Experience in optical DWDM transmission system design and modeling.
For this role, we anticipate paying $140,000 - $200,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
