Senior Equipment Engineering Technician Role and Responsibilities
- Support equipment across various manufacturing lines, diagnosing and fixing high‑speed automated manufacturing equipment.
- Provide support for PLC and HMI programming, encompassing motion and servo control systems.
- Modify existing control logic to improve safety, performance, or throughput.
- Participate in commissioning of new automated equipment and ensure all devices function as designed.
- Install, commission, and support vision systems for tracking and quality inspections.
- Oversee equipment installation, startup, and implementation projects.
- Validate new product designs, equipment, and processes with engineering teams.
- Analyze production data to identify ways to boost safety, cut costs, enhance efficiency, and raise quality.
- Drive investigations and root‑cause analysis for quality issues.
- Collect and analyze mechanical and electrical test data with engineering teams.
- 9+ years of experience in a high‑capacity manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Associate degree or technical certification in Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or Industrial Maintenance (required) or equivalent experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is preferred but not required.
- Experience with automated equipment.
- Functional knowledge of PLCs, low‑voltage controls, three‑phase power distribution, industrial control panels, electronic sensors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Experience in equipment requirement development and specification writing.
- Knowledge of ergonomic and machine safety standards.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Solid Works, and MS Office suite.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Good attendance, initiative, responsible follow‑through, and willingness to help.
- Flexibility to work a changing shift or work schedule.
- Ability to stand or walk for up to 8–10 hours per shift.
- Occasional lifting or carrying of up to 25 lbs.
- Use of hands and fingers to operate machinery controls and computers throughout the shift.
- Visual acuity sufficient for product inspection and reading printed or digital materials.
- Hearing ability to detect alarms and communicate effectively with staff.
- Ability to perform essential tasks with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in required areas, such as safety glasses and safety‑toed boots.
