The Vehicle Manufacturing Controls Team is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Controls Dev Engineer who will focus on automation controls systems within a production system and leverage the experience in industrial processes to effectively and efficiently help design, validate, and commission the production systems that will build Tesla’s next generation of products. As a Manufacturing Controls Dev Engineer, you will own and be directly responsible for the controls system of these manufacturing lines, so having knowledge of advanced technology and capabilities will help shape the fastest production line Tesla has ever built. Everything on the system will be questioned and challenged to be improved and innovated upon. WhatYou’ll Do
- Responsible for designing/architecting the controls systems
- Develop foundational PLC programs in Siemens, including custom code to interface with new technologies
- Own the execution and validation of the manufacturing systems from concept to design, to serial production hand‑over
- Provide the necessary expertise to effectively support all cross‑functional teams, including Manufacturing Engineering, EH&S, Production/Production Engineering
- Project manage across the full project life cycle
- Develop procedures, train, and maintain proper documentation
- 3+ years’ experience in PLC programming and applications
- Proficiency in Siemens platform
- Proven track record commissioning and programming manufacturing systems on the line, station, or component level
- Hands‑on experience troubleshooting
- Experience with processes such as Material Handling, Adhesive, Vision, Joining
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Robotic programming knowledge (Fanuc, Kuka)
- Electrical schematic design experience (EPLAN, AutoCAD)
- Knowledge of Process Simulation

$91,600 - $195,600/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
