Senior Technical Applications Engineer, Semi Business Unit – Based in Fremont, California (company headquarters in Hatfield, Pennsylvania). The role supports sales and engineering teams, works with semiconductor customers, and contributes to product qualification and development road‑maps.

Brooks Instrument, a division of ITW, designs critical flow and pressure instrumentation for markets such as oil & gas, petrochemical, medical devices, wastewater, life sciences and analytical instruments. The Senior Applications Engineer will leverage deep technical knowledge to drive customer satisfaction and business growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Primary sales support contact for internal and external teams; answer complex technical questions, configure systems, and resolve high‑level customer issues.
  • Build test systems, collect and analyze data, and present technical findings to non‑technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with sales to cultivate client relationships; assist Product and Marketing Managers with technical tasks.
  • May focus on a specific product or market, understanding global standards and competitive nuances.
  • Provide technical support for both domestic and international customers, including Super 80 customers.
  • Lead training for Sales, Service, and Applications Engineers on product use and value propositions.
  • Identify and document competitive advantages in specific application and market niches.
  • Analyze and prepare data and reports on competitive product performance.
  • Build and lead product demonstrations in the Applications Laboratory.
  • Work with the Business Unit to accelerate engineering and manufacturing tasks using appropriate business‑management tools.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Engineering on optimized system configurations and system proposals.
  • Partner with manufacturing to improve processes and yields.
  • Conduct trainings for customers and the sales organization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Travel up to 30%.

Education and Experience
  • BS degree in Engineering or equivalent technical background.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical field with a strong background in programming (C# and LabVIEW).
  • Advanced understanding of materials testing practices and application engineering.
  • Expertise in electronics and mechanical systems (physics, materials science, fluid dynamics, mechanical or electrical engineering).
  • Experience with ITW toolbox processes such as 80/20 and USa for business improvement.
  • Self‑starter who identifies opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of interacting at all organizational levels.
  • Strong organizational and leadership qualities, with flexibility and reliability.
  • Ability to adapt under changing priorities and deadlines; analytical, verbal, written, and presentation abilities.

Compensation: $120,000 – $170,000 annually.
