Mechanical Engineer 2

This position involves participation in the conceptualization, modeling, analysis, development, documentation, and testing of hardware for new semiconductor equipment. The role requires designing parts, working with suppliers, and ensuring documentation adheres to established standards. The contract duration is estimated to be two years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the hardware development lifecycle, from concept to validation.
  • Design parts using various materials such as metals, ceramics, quartz, and plastics.
  • Perform analytical work, including heat transfer, stress, and fluid dynamics analysis.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate design performance.
  • Create and present reports on design intent, analysis, and validation.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure high-quality and cost-effective solutions.
  • Prepare deliverables like technical specifications and risk analysis.
  • Exhibit strong knowledge of thermal and heat transfer principles.
  • Utilize broad knowledge of materials and their typical applications.
  • Present competing design concepts to inform the selection of the recommended design path.

Required Qualifications

Education:

A Mechanical Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant work experience, or a Master's degree with 0-1 years of relevant work experience.

Technical

Skills:

  • CAD Experience (NX is preferred).
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Familiarity with using and interpreting GD&T.
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) or Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skills in MATLAB and Simulink.
  • FEA experience (Structural, CFD).
  • Diverse materials knowledge.

Work Environment

The position is on-site. The expected schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, during standard business hours Pacific Time.
