Staff Equipment Engineer, Mechanical — Fremont, CA(Full‑time, on‑site, 5 days a week)
Responsibilities- Support equipment across multiple manufacturing lines with varying complexity.
- Diagnose and repair manufacturing equipment, including automated systems.
- Commission new automated equipment and ensure all devices function as designed.
- Install, commission, and support vision systems for tracking and quality inspections.
- Perform engineering tasks in mechanical, electrical, and structural systems for testing, material handling, welding, and machining equipment.
- Oversee equipment installation and start‑up/implementation projects.
- Develop equipment specifications and documents for manufacturing assembly, testing, and material handling processes.
- Manage project timelines, financial planning, and prepare comprehensive status reports for leadership.
- Collaborate with vendors, facility engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production teams to manage project implementation.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, reduce costs, increase efficiency, and enhance quality.
- Prepare or approve system as‑built drawings.
- Work flexible hours, including off‑shift and weekend shifts, as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 6+ years of experience as a Manufacturing or Equipment Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in equipment requirement development and specification writing.
- Knowledge of ergonomic and machine safety standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solid Works, and MS Office suite.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to stand/walk for 8‑10 hours per shift.
- Occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 lbs.
- Use hands and fingers to operate machinery controls and computers.
- Visual acuity sufficient for product inspection and reading digital/printed materials.
- Hearing ability to detect alarms and communicate effectively with staff.
- Ability to perform essential tasks with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in required areas (e.g., safety glasses, safety‑toed boots).
