Position: Staff Equipment Engineer, Mechanical

Staff Equipment Engineer, Mechanical — Fremont, CA(Full‑time, on‑site, 5 days a week)

Responsibilities
  • Support equipment across multiple manufacturing lines with varying complexity.
  • Diagnose and repair manufacturing equipment, including automated systems.
  • Commission new automated equipment and ensure all devices function as designed.
  • Install, commission, and support vision systems for tracking and quality inspections.
  • Perform engineering tasks in mechanical, electrical, and structural systems for testing, material handling, welding, and machining equipment.
  • Oversee equipment installation and start‑up/implementation projects.
  • Develop equipment specifications and documents for manufacturing assembly, testing, and material handling processes.
  • Manage project timelines, financial planning, and prepare comprehensive status reports for leadership.
  • Collaborate with vendors, facility engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production teams to manage project implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, reduce costs, increase efficiency, and enhance quality.
  • Prepare or approve system as‑built drawings.
  • Work flexible hours, including off‑shift and weekend shifts, as required by business needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience as a Manufacturing or Equipment Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in equipment requirement development and specification writing.
  • Knowledge of ergonomic and machine safety standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solid Works, and MS Office suite.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand/walk for 8‑10 hours per shift.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 lbs.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate machinery controls and computers.
  • Visual acuity sufficient for product inspection and reading digital/printed materials.
  • Hearing ability to detect alarms and communicate effectively with staff.
  • Ability to perform essential tasks with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in required areas (e.g., safety glasses, safety‑toed boots).
