Job Summary
We are looking for a Sr. Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, Equipment. This role will report to the Sr. Director, Reliability Engineering and will be fully onsite based in Fremont, CA. The position focuses on designing and developing R&D equipment, tools, and test fixtures to support feasibility and investigation efforts, and working with Operations and Process Engineering teams to create equipment for production ramp and inspection needs.

Responsibilities- Design and develop R&D equipment, tools/test fixtures to support feasibility and investigation efforts.
- Design, develop and build tools/test fixtures in-house.
- Work with Operations and Process Engineering teams to design equipment/tools to support production ramp and inspection equipment.
- Support existing equipment install base in BE Production and in BE Suppliers, including troubleshooting, debugging and new feature requests for both hardware and software.
- Process Automation and Test Equipment Design experience is required.
- Expertise in mechanical design using Solid Works or other 3D modeling applications is required.
- Design documentation: mechanical detail drawings, electrical wiring, P&, plumbing diagrams.
- Experience with the design and fabrication of hardware utilizing sheet metal, machined parts, casting, welding and brazing technology (e.g., heat exchangers) is a plus.
- Experience with screen printing, adhesive dispensing, curing and working with high-temperature ceramics is a plus.
- Experience releasing complex products from design to medium/high volume manufacturing with an understanding of DFM and DFX principles and applications.
- Superior communication skills (written, verbal, and active listening).
- Highly motivated self‑starter, capable of self‑management with minimal oversight.
- Ability to manage and lead projects and to work with external custom machine integrators.
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with 5+ years of experience in NPI, manufacturing engineering, or design development organization.
