Industrial Engineer Responsibilities
- Set production standards (e.g., determine allowed time values) by applying standard data or conducting time studies.
- Conduct capacity analysis and collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure production processes meet growing client demand.
- Collect field measurement data and create two‑dimensional facility drawings using AutoCAD.
- Partner with cross‑functional engineering to identify, develop, and implement opportunities to improve processes, increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve quality.
- Develop process sequences for production as new products are released.
- Manage process documentation (work instructions, visual aids, quality standards, etc.).
- Promote LEAN manufacturing practices and implementation; manage a portfolio of projects.
- Review and improve ergonomic practices.
- Develop principal work standards and line‑balancing for productivity.
- Optimize machining processes to achieve product quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
- Optimize workflow and cell designs and introduce cost‑effective automation for productivity and safety advantages.
- Design machine and tools for new product or process.
- Track and execute cost‑reduction initiatives for process improvements.
- Plan, execute, and manage projects to complete product continuous improvement cycles.
- Communicate Lean group’s philosophy, vision, and expectations.
- Develop and sustain employee training and development on lean concepts.
- Develop measurement systems supporting the lean manufacturing philosophy.
- Lead value‑stream mapping exercises to identify and record improvement areas.
- Plan and implement project plans to achieve Future State.
- Plan and achieve expense budget objectives and capital items.
- Collaborate with production teams to address process/quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with QE/TE/PM to ensure alignment on quality objectives and priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of Industrial Engineering experience.
- Ability to plan and implement capital equipment projects, develop business cases, and manage project execution on‑time and within budget.
- Proven facilitation of continuous improvement / Kaizen / Rapid Improvement events, including 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, Error Proofing, 1‑piece Flow, Kanban, and TPM.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, creating and maintaining production 2D/3D layouts.
- Knowledgeable in manufacturing processes, construction materials and methods.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Self‑starter capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a desire to learn new processes and technology.
- Ability to work under deadline pressure.
- Understanding of PFMEA, DFx, Six Sigma processes highly desirable.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $70,000‑90,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and business needs.
