Hardware Designer 3 – Electrical / Cable & Harness Design

Location: Fremont, CA (100% Onsite)

Duration: 24-Month Contract with possible extensions

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week

Pay Rate: Up to $64/hour

We are seeking an experienced Hardware Designer / Electrical Designer to support the design and development of electrical system interconnects, cable assemblies, and wire harnesses for complex equipment and high-reliability applications.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with E3/Zuken or similar electrical CAD tools
, strong electrical design and drafting skills, and the ability to translate system schematics into detailed manufacturing documentation. This role will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and other cross‑functional teams throughout the product development and release process.

• Design and develop cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and system interconnects for complex equipment.
• Create manufacturing documentation using E3/Zuken
  , including wire lists, harness drawings, cable assemblies, enclosure schematics, and system interconnect diagrams.
• Translate electrical schematics and design requirements into detailed wiring diagrams and harness designs.
• Design cables and harnesses based on voltage, current, reliability, and system requirements.
• Select and incorporate connectors, pins, cables, conductor gauges, shielding, strain reliefs, and related components into cable and harness assemblies.
• Create and maintain 2D engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and related engineering documentation.
• Manage engineering drawings and documentation through PLM or document-control systems.
• Support engineering change and product release activities.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and internal stakeholders on design concepts and technical issues.
• Track engineering issues and support resolution with internal teams and external vendors.
• Review engineering documentation for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability.
• Support production and manufacturing teams with technical documentation and design clarification.
• Manage multiple priorities while meeting project schedules and engineering deliverables.

• Hands‑on experience with E3/Zuken or comparable electrical CAD software

• Strong electrical design and drafting experience.
• Experience designing cables, wire harnesses, and system interconnects
  .
• Experience creating 2D manufacturing drawings
  .
• Understanding of basic drafting principles, including dimensioning and view projections.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and component specifications.
• Understanding of electrical components, assemblies, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience with Teamcenter, iPLM, or other PLM systems

• Experience with Siemens NX or other 3D CAD platforms.
• Manufacturing or production engineering experience.
• Experience with additional electrical CAD tools that can transfer to E3/Zuken.
• Familiarity with engineering standards such as IPC-620, ANSI, ASME, or MIL-STD
  .
• Experience designing cable and harness assemblies for high-reliability applications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
