About the Opportunity:
We're seeking a Hardware Designer II to support the development and advancement of additive manufacturing (AM) technologies for innovative product development initiatives. In this role, you'll work at the intersection of engineering, materials science, design, and manufacturing, helping optimize 3D printing processes, rapid prototyping methods, and digital manufacturing solutions for next-generation products.

What You'll Do:
- Support the development and optimization of additive manufacturing processes, including 3D printing, rapid prototyping, direct digital manufacturing, and additive fabrication technologies.
- Analyze material, process, and design interactions to improve manufacturability and product performance.
- Create and modify digital models using CAD and solid modeling tools.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements to support product development activities.
- Investigate material, process, and component issues, including porosity, defect formation, and manufacturing inconsistencies.
- Develop and execute testing protocols, inspection methods, and failure analysis evaluations.
- Support implementation of new additive manufacturing technologies and process improvements.
- Create technical documentation, work instructions, and training materials for manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing teams, and product development groups to support design optimization efforts.
Job Requirements
What You'll Bring:
- 2+ years of experience in additive manufacturing, product development, hardware design, manufacturing engineering, materials engineering, or related technical fields.
- 2+ years of experience using CAD, solid modeling, or digital design software for engineering or manufacturing applications.
- 1+ years of experience supporting 3D printing, rapid prototyping, additive manufacturing, or advanced manufacturing processes.
- 1+ years of experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
- 1+ years of experience performing engineering testing, inspection, process validation, or failure analysis activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Experience with additive manufacturing technologies such as:
- 3D Printing
- Direct Digital Manufacturing (DDM)
- Rapid Prototyping (RP)
- Layered Manufacturing
- Knowledge of materials science, material-process interactions, and manufacturing optimization.
- Experience investigating manufacturing defects, porosity issues, material failures, or quality concerns.
- Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE), simulation tools, and engineering analysis methods.
- Experience developing manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and operator training documentation.
- Strong understanding of inspection methodologies, failure analysis, and root-cause investigation techniques.
- Experience researching and implementing emerging manufacturing technologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
