Thermal/ Mechanical Engineer is responsible for evaluating complex product designs across the data center rack solution systems. This encompasses identifying, selecting, simulating, and testing both commercial and in-house developed advanced thermal/ mechanical design solutions, including thermal performance, manufacturability, serviceability, and reliability of data center racks and cooling systems. Leveraging a deep technical engineering expertise in thermal and mechanical engineering candidates will drive rack / cooling system level decisions, testing, and implementation.
Responsibilities- Manages mechanical suppliers that manufacture data center rack systems.
- Manages suppliers that manufacture, and test advanced cooling solutions operated in data center environments.
- Evaluates and optimizes air-to-liquid, and liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger solutions for cooling in data center environments.
- Works in a cross-functional collaborative environment, closely interfacing with peers, management, and external vendors.
- Expected to exercise significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in the field or in a related area. Master’s/PhD in Thermal/ Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Professional experience and proven track record of managing suppliers working on racks and/or similar mechanical systems.
- Understanding of shock/vibration and other compliance and reliability tests for datacenter mechanical equipment
- Ability to work with offshore manufacturers to manage quality issues and process changes.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS), supplier quality performance metrics, or failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
- Proficient in designing thermal/ mechanical models using MCAD software tools.
- Background of heat transfer and thermal design including ability to quickly access system performance and interpret thermal simulations, design, test, and qualification requirements.
- Strong self-starter and self-learner aptitude, proven ability to work independently
- Experience and theoretical background with regards to cooling systems including air-to-liquid and liquid-to-liquid heat exchangers, heat pumps and HVAC systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Pay Range Minimum: $78000/annum
- Pay Range Maximum: $148000/annum

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law.
