The impact you’ll makeAs a Systems Engineer at Lam, you'll design complex frameworks, systems, or products for our wafer fabrication equipment. You will define system specifications, requirements, parameters, and compatibility to integrate hardware, software, and firmware into a cohesive system. Identifying, analyzing, and resolving system design weaknesses combined with your multi‑layered technical expertise you help shape the next generation of Lam initiatives.
What you’ll doAs a Staff Systems Engineer, you are accountable for the product meeting the System Specifications. You will own and manage the system specification and system architecture, drive integration across sub‑systems, reconcile design tradeoffs, and ensure the product achieves performance, cost, compliance and all the "ilitiy" targets throughout the lifecycle.
- Decompose the system into functional sub‑systems/blocks
- Own the high‑level BOM structure
- Provide the major assembly cost allocation model
- Act as a key stakeholder in program and engineering design reviews
- Ensure DFx criteria and Compliance are met
- Accountable for FMEAs
- Develop system‑level test plans and approve sub‑system level test and spec verification plans
- Accountable for the completion of all Engineering Documentation
- Minimum of 12 years of related experience with an EE, ME or other science Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience in the Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment Industry
- Has a proven successful track record as a Senior Hardware Design Engineer with ownership of multiple subsystems or entire systems or
- Has a proven successful track record as a Senior System Design Engineer with ownership of multiple subsystems or entire systems and proven ownership of system specifications and system architecture for multi‑disciplinary products.
- Demonstrated leadership of DFx adoption and FMEA creation/approval; experience driving risk closure from RPN prioritization through mitigation
- Track record of delivering cost‑aligned designs and leading tradeoff decisions under aggressive program schedule
- Working knowledge of SEMI and safety standards (e.g., SEMI S2/S23, UL/CE) and product compliance processes.
- Expertise with SysML tools (e.g., CATIA/Magic Draw), requirements management, model‑based systems engineering, data analysis (MATLAB/Python), and DFx analytics.
- Strong cross‑functional leadership with Engineering, Product/Program Management, Technical Owners, Manufacturing, Test/Lab; effective communication in reviews and executive updates.
