Environmental Compliance & Protection, Environmental Engineer, Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Most EHS jobs hand you a mature program and a binder of someone else's procedures. This one hands you a brand-new advanced-materials plant in Fremont and asks you to build the program yourself: the air, stormwater, wastewater, and hazardous-materials permits, the commissioning safety reviews, the OSHA programs, the training, the culture. You will work shoulder to shoulder with Engineering, Facilities, Operations, Quality, and outside environmental consultants while the site scales from startup to full production, backed by a global specialty chemicals manufacturer with over a century of history.
- Builders who would rather stand up EHS systems from scratch than maintain someone else's program.
- EHS pros from regulated industries (chemical, semiconductor, battery, pharma) who know OSHA and EPA cold.
- Organized self-starters who can juggle permits, consultants, and commissioning at the same time.
- Clear communicators who are as comfortable with regulators as with operators on the floor
If you want a mature plant with every process already dialed in, this is not your role.
- Environmental permitting end to end: air, stormwater, wastewater, hazardous materials, MAQ evaluations.
- Commissioning and startup support:
Process Hazard Analyses, Management of Change, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews. - Regulatory reporting (TRI, Tier II, hazardous waste, air, stormwater, wastewater) and RCRA waste management.
- OSHA compliance programs:
Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, Hazard Communication, Hot Work, Fall Protection, PPE, Contractor Safety. - Incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action tracking.
- EHS procedures, training, metrics, and ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 implementation support.
- A bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical field.
- 2 to 5 years of EHS experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
- Bonus: hands‑on permitting (air, stormwater, wastewater), RCRA, California environmental regulations (CUPA, DTSC, CARB, BAAQMD), PSM, PHA, MOC, ISO 14001/45001, or a prior greenfield startup.
- $71,822 to $107,732 base plus a performance bonus.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, PTO and holidays, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement.
- A resume line very few EHS specialists ever get: you built a plant's program from day one.
