Position Overview

The Lab Service Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, upgrading, calibrating, and supporting equipment within an applications laboratory. This role works closely with engineering and R&D teams to support prototype equipment, product development activities, and customer demonstrations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment upgrades, and calibration.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators or other safety equipment when required for hazardous materials.
  • Collaborate with Process Development, Hardware Engineering, and Software Engineering teams on R&D activities and customer demonstrations.
  • Install, maintain, and support prototype equipment and develop procedures or technical documentation when established procedures are unavailable.
  • Troubleshoot system hardware and software issues and provide technical support as needed.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to customer sites when required to resolve equipment or system issues.
  • Provide field and direct customer support as needed.
  • Train Field Service Engineers, Engineering Technicians, Laboratory Service Engineers, and Process Engineers when required.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with semiconductor equipment is highly preferred.
  • Strong hardware and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and electronic test equipment for maintenance, repair, and assembly.
  • Experience with equipment troubleshooting and maintenance in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
  • Vacuum leak checking experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment while wearing required PPE or a cleanroom suit.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with no previous professional experience; or
  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent military training with 2+ years of relevant experience; or
  • Equivalent combination of education, military training, and work experience.
  • This position is eligible for qualified recent graduates.
