Most entry-level process engineering jobs put you on a mature line where every process was dialed in a decade before you arrived. This one does the opposite. Our client is standing up a first-to-market advanced-materials platform across two Bay Area sites, and you get to learn the craft while the plant is still being built around you. You will sit next to senior engineers, own real Statistical Process Control work on day one, and grow into the second site as it comes online.
- You are early in your career and want to be hands-on in a plant, not modeling from a desk
- You are comfortable around flammable solvents and corrosive chemicals, and you take process safety seriously
- You like wearing several hats at a small, fast-growing site where the org chart is still forming
- You are the kind of engineer who chases an out-of-spec batch until you actually know why
- If you want a mature plant with every process already dialed in, or you would rather not work around industrial chemicals, this is not your role
- Statistical Process Control on critical processes, including acting on out-of-control signals
- Root cause analysis on product failures, and driving corrective actions to closure
- Nonconforming Material Reports end to end, minimizing repeat occurrences
- Periodic statistical reports to customers, submitted on time
- Work instructions for existing products, written and revised
- Process equipment troubleshooting, with Management of Change discipline alongside Maintenance and Production
- Backup support for plant Environmental Health and Safety, including waste shipment coordination and permit compliance
- The equipment and instrumentation calibration program
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from a four-year college or university
- 0 to 3 years of relevant experience, including internships and co-ops
- Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control
- Familiarity with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, basic process control, pumps, piping, control valves, mixers, solids handling, and environmental control equipment
- Comfortable working around flammable solvents and corrosive chemicals
- Permanent US work authorization. This client does not sponsor, now or in the future
- Fremont, California. Fully on-site, Monday through Friday
- Batch chemical manufacturing serving semiconductor customers who run tightly controlled, customer-approved processes
- Two Fremont sites: an existing production plant, plus a larger second site being built within a two to three mile radius
- Base salary range $71,822 to $107,732, plus a performance bonus
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance, a wellness program, paid time off and holidays, and a 401(k) with a company match
- Paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement, and professional development support
