Hardware Designer

The Hardware Designer 1 is responsible for supporting the design, development, and improvement of mechanical hardware and components. The role involves 3D CAD design using NX, fundamental mechanical design, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), CAD assembly management, and troubleshooting of material, process, and part-related issues.

• Performs Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and fundamental mechanical design, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Creates, modifies, and maintains 3D mechanical designs and CAD assemblies using NX.
• Investigates and selects off-the-shelf components as appropriate for product designs.
• Manages CAD assemblies for both individual projects and colleagues.
• Interprets engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes.
• Designs and supports mechanical components, particularly sheet metal and machined parts.
• Applies mechanical design principles and manufacturing considerations to develop practical, manufacturable solutions.
• Troubleshoots and solves issues related to materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical parts.
• Collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to resolve design and production issues.
• Contributes to inspection activities and failure analysis.
• Supports design changes, product improvements, and engineering documentation throughout the product development and manufacturing process.
• Uses Teamcenter PLM to support engineering data and product lifecycle activities.

• Strong experience using Siemens NX for 3D CAD.
• Ideally, candidates are currently using NX.
• If not currently using NX, must have used NX for at least 2+ years previously.
• Familiarity with Teamcenter PLM.
• Strong experience with sheet metal and machined parts.
• Understanding of DFM/DFA principles and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience troubleshooting material, process, and part-related issues.

• 5+ years of experience preferred.
• Experience in mechanical design, hardware design, product development, or a related field.
• Experience working with manufacturing and cross-functional engineering teams is a plus.
