Hardware Designer; Additive Manufacturing, DDM, 3D printing, RP

Develops and supports additive manufacturing ( "AM") processes and technology, including, but not limited to, 3D printing, rapid prototyping (RP), direct digital manufacturing (DDM), layered manufacturing and additive fabrications.

• Determines material-process-design interdependencies;
• provides AM design optimization input, researches and facilitates AM material and process discussions and requirements, interfaces with product line.
• Applies digital design, CAD, solid modeling software and computer aided engineering methods.
• Interprets engineering drawings/specifications and manufacturing processes; problem solves material, process and parts issues such as defect structure and porosity issues.
• Develops test methods and procedures, performs inspection and failure analysis.
• May develop qualitative tools and software to optimize and increase reliability of existing equipment for AM.
• May research new AM technologies, create AM work instructions and/or assist in the development of AM machinists/technicians, training on new product processes and methods.
