Role Overview
This position supports the Document Control Team during construction projects, which involve frequent changes and updates to building plans. The role focuses on drawing, designing, reading, and explaining plans within AutoCAD. The successful candidate will work independently with strong communication and organizational skills, supporting multiple stakeholders and managing reports from SharePoint.
Key Responsibilities- Draw, design, read, and explain construction and facility plans using AutoCAD.
- Update electrical panel schedules in Excel and revise Easy Power electrical distribution models to reflect current field conditions.
- Review engineering changes and incorporate updates into panel schedules, single-line diagrams, and related electrical records.
- Maintain site plans and building drawings for electrical, mechanical, and piping systems, as well as evacuation and fire riser maps.
- Manage a centralized document management system, including electronic and physical files.
- Incorporate project close-out files into as-built documents and update CAD drawings from construction and engineering teams.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to confirm and update plans.
- Perform field audits and walkthroughs to verify drawing accuracy and update drawings from field measurements.
- Work with stakeholders to create detailed drawings from sketches, layouts, or notes.
- Search file repositories and deliver requested information to stakeholders.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, design, or equivalent work experience in a similar field.
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience as an AutoCAD designer or drafter, including experience gained from college projects or internships, with the ability to work independently. A construction background is desired.
Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD is required. Candidates should have a working knowledge of Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings is necessary. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are required.
- Experience with Revit.
- Experience using Easy Power software for electrical system modeling.
- Familiarity with SharePoint or electronic document management systems.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, including switch gear, transformers, motor control centers, and panel boards.
