Finance Manager, Billing and Budgeting
About the RoleThe Finance Manager, Billing and Budgeting will support operational finance activities of multiple program areas and contracts, including the development and review of monthly invoices submitted to funders, budgets, forecasts, and analysis, as well as implementation of tracking key business reporting areas on a regular basis. The position reports to the Director or Associate Director of Billing and Budgeting and will train and supervise associates and analysts to ensure efficient completion of administrative functions related to funder contracts and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure accurate and timely fiscal contract monitoring, including preparation and review of monthly invoices, follow‑up on payments, budget modifications, and performance reports.
- Supervise Associates and Billing & Budgeting Analysts.
- Oversee on‑time delivery of core financial reports: accruals, unbilled administrative costs, accounts receivable, revenue trends, and unbilled expenses.
- Prepare financial reports and executive summaries for senior management to explain variances.
- Implement projection and forecast standards across all grants, working with leadership to define reporting needs and KPI requirements.
- Collaborate with the Accounting Department to code, track and analyze financial activity.
- Conduct weekly staff meetings with direct reports.
- Maintain professional boundaries with staff, clients, and community resources.
- Assist with program and agency‑wide budgeting.
- Perform additional duties/projects as assigned by senior leaders.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting and 3–5 years of FP&A experience.
- Experience in public and private funding in a nonprofit environment.
- 2–5 years in a supervisory role.
- Understanding of GAAP.
- Knowledge of general accounting principles and contract accounting issues.
- Ability to meet deadlines and produce high‑quality products.
- Proficiency with financial analytical tools and techniques.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.
- $95,000–$110,000 annually
