As a Public Policy Advisor on the Public Policy/Government Relations team, you will support Discord’s work by building trust and finding common ground with policymakers, regulators, and other stakeholders with a focus on the U.S. States. This is a hybrid role based in our San Francisco HQ and reports to the company’s Director of Americas Public Policy.

Responsibilities- Introduce Discord to policymakers and other stakeholders including educating decision-makers on our mission, our products, and our investments in privacy and safety
- Advocate for Discord’s position on key legislative and regulatory initiatives that will impact our users and our business
- Engage in public policy coalitions with peer companies and civil society organizations
- Monitor and analyze policy developments in the U.S. States
- Develop public policy materials such as position papers, talking points, presentations, consultation responses, for engagement with our partners
- Engage with cross-functional partners (Legal, Trust and Safety, Communications, Policy), reporting on policy developments, providing expert insights, and gathering their input
- 5+ years of experience in government, public policy advocacy, and/or government relations
- Deep insight on the policy making process in the U.S. States
- Ability to execute a multi-year strategic advocacy and public affairs program
- Work experience on technology policy initiatives such as online safety, privacy, or content moderation
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, compelling narratives for non-technical audiences
- Success building trust and consensus across stakeholders with different perspectives and priorities
- Willingness to travel as necessary within the U.S.
Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties). Relocation assistance may be available.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000 to $175,500 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
