Responsibilities

Pony.ai is driving the future of autonomous mobility, and we're seeking a talented Network Engineer to join our infrastructure team. In this pivotal role, you'll design, implement, and maintain the robust network foundation that powers our cutting-edge technology. You'll ensure the reliability, security, and high performance of our critical systems, contributing directly to our mission of revolutionizing transportation. We're looking for a proactive problem-solver with a passion for innovation and a commitment to continuous improvement.

• Architect & Implement:
  Serve as tech lead to design and deploy scalable, resilient network architectures (LAN, WAN, data center) to support our growing infrastructure. Develop comprehensive network documentation and lead infrastructure projects from concept to deployment.
• Optimize & Maintain:
  Proactively monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement network configuration changes and upgrades. Deploy and manage robust security measures, including firewalls, ACLs, and VPN/ZTNA.
• Automate & Streamline:
  Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to enhance network operations. Leverage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools for efficient configuration management and implement network automation platforms.
• Collaborate & Support:
  Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams (systems, security, development) to ensure seamless integration. Provide expert-level support, mentor junior engineers, and participate in on-call rotations. Work with vendors on technology selection.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering.
• Expert level knowledge and experience in network routing and switching.
• Deep expertise in networking protocols and technologies: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, VLANs, STP, firewalls, VPNs.
• Proven experience configuring and managing network hardware from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, Arista, and Fortinet.
• Strong understanding of network security best practices.
• Strong understanding of Unix/Linux based operating systems.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Exceptional troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with hyperscale network design and implementation.
• Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proficiency in network automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) and scripting languages (Python, Go, Bash).

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary Range: $135,000 - $220,000 Annually

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on many factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation and this role may be eligible for bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units.
