The Label Specialist plays a key role in designing, maintaining, and supporting product and packaging labels used in manufacturing. Working closely with cross-functional teams, this position ensures that labeling requirements are met accurately and efficiently using Zebra label software and printers. The role also includes basic label printer setup and maintenance, combining elements of software usage with general tech support.
This position is part of the Information Technology Engineering (ITE) team. The team is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting internal software systems to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and quality of manufacturing and logistics processes. Their work enables rapid development, testing, and deployment of high-quality applications tailored to internal needs. The team also delivers database solutions, integrates systems, and collaborates with stakeholders to improve operational workflows.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Create, modify, and maintain product and packaging label templates using Zebra label software (e.g., ZPL).
- Execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) related to labeling releases and updates.
- Create and maintain labeling specifications and user documentation.
- Perform label printer setup and basic maintenance, providing first-line technical support for printer issues.
- Assist in generating basic manufacturing and quality reports.
- Familiarity with label design software, especially Zebra Programming Language (ZPL), is highly preferred.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for label printers, including hardware and software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Experienced in label design software, such as Zebra Programming Language, is a plus.
- Experienced in printer setup is a plus.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to access and navigate various departments within the organization’s facilities.
