Department: 370‑Data Management, Data Governance
Reports To: Director of Data Governance and Master Archivist
Job Summary: The PLM and ERP Data and System Specialist will assist in PLM governance and data quality across Nextracker’s enterprise systems. The role includes drafting and designing part numbering architecture, defining scalable practices, and representing the PLM team as an SME within key Product Lifecycle Management initiatives. Candidates should combine deep technical knowledge with hands‑on experience in PLM system configuration, data integrity management, and governance execution.
As a subject matter expert, the specialist will lead the implementation, configuration, and support of PLM (Arena) and ERP systems, ensuring seamless integration. Key duties include translating business needs into technical solutions, managing PLM processes such as change orders and item structures, developing solution designs, and acting as a subject matter expert for cross‑functional teams. Strong project management skills and the ability to collaborate with business and IT stakeholders are essential.
The specialist will work closely with Program Managers, Engineering, Supply Chain, IT, and Data Governance to deliver structured, high‑integrity solutions and maintain a scalable, synchronized, and audit‑ready PLM environment.
- Lead end‑to‑end PLM/ERP implementation projects, including process mapping, solution design, configuration, and deployment. Understand and develop requirements for Engineering, Product Management, and Quality teams while navigating the overall needs of Make to Quote, Make to Sell, and Make to Deliver.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and validate business requirements, translating them into scalable system solutions.
- Ensure seamless integration between PLM and ERP systems, managing data flows and defining product data governance processes. Export and import data, understand the PLM architecture and ERP requirements to build successful mapping and integration, and complete UAT and end‑to‑end resolution of data migration.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for PLM and ERP, providing guidance on best practices and troubleshooting system issues.
- Develop and maintain key solution artifacts such as functional design documents, process flow diagrams, and test scripts. Train end‑users and provide ongoing support, crafting necessary documentation, content, and visuals to display impact and roles.
- Analyze and improve PLM‑related business processes across engineering, manufacturing, and quality departments.
- Manage project timelines, expectations, and communication, escalating issues as needed.
- Draft and maintain part numbering schema architecture and documentation—structure, logic, rules, and templates for vendor parts.
- Define attribute ownership and drive consistent application across part life cycles, collecting data and executing imports or exports accordingly.
- Monitor and maintain data integrity across Arena PLM and connected systems.
- Create dashboards and reports to identify discrepancies, gaps, and misaligned data.
- Support integration efforts for newly acquired products and create playbook and procedures for integration of data into our systems.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, IT, and Supply Chain teams to align data models and lifecycle management rules.
- Map attribute data and values between systems, under the requirements and implement it.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in PLM and ERP integration, including stand‑up and launch of new systems.
- Deep working knowledge of part numbering, product data structures, and change control workflows.
- Hands‑on administrative experience with Arena PLM or Oracle ERP.
- Proven ability to work independently while contributing to team‑driven initiatives.
- Strong skills in data reconciliation, reporting (Excel, Power BI, or Tableau), and stakeholder communication.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity, and able to distill complex PLM/data governance needs into clear technical approaches.
- Expert/advanced knowledge of Arena/PLM architecture, best standards, and understanding of how Engineering Data is used and its interaction with Supply Chain and Finance functions.
- Expert/advanced knowledge of ERP architecture, such as Oracle and Net Suite.
- Experience with M&A activities and the impact on data and systems.
