What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated and process-driven Logistics Analyst to serve as the returnable packaging liaison within our supply chain organization. This role addresses a critical ownership gap across returnable packaging shipments by establishing a single-threaded owner and escalation point for all returnable shipment issues in transit. As the centralized logistics point of contact, you will partner closely with site analysts, carriers, brokers, the returnable packaging team, and supplier stakeholders to ensure fast issue resolution, consistent execution, and standardized carrier performance.

This role covers returnable shipments across Tesla sites, with end-to-end ownership of exception management. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong cross‑functional collaboration skills, a keen eye for operational efficiency, and the ability to drive accountability across internal teams and external partners.

What you’ll do
  • Review broker’s shipment reports to identify and resolve returnable shipment issues; own end-to-end exception resolution in accordance with established escalation guidelines, ensuring timely follow‑up until closure.
  • Monitor carrier reports to identify delayed or at‑risk shipments; engage directly with carriers to understand root cause and drive recovery plans.
  • Maintain close communication with carriers, track KPIs during carrier performance reviews, and monitor performance across key areas including milestone accuracy, document compliance, shipment audit accuracy, appointment scheduling, and additional freight charges.
  • Drive standardized operating expectations across all returnable carriers; push for consistent compliance levels and system integration to strengthen data accuracy, visibility, and execution consistency.
  • Monitor in‑transit shipments to detect delays or at‑risk deliveries; coordinate with drivers and carriers to address issues and ensure timely execution; design and coordinate reverse logistics processes to achieve cost reduction, resource optimization, and highest fleet utilization.
  • Coordinate the most cost‑effective means to import/export goods and provide all required documentation for import and export functions.
  • Serve as the central liaison across site analysts, carriers, brokers, and the returnable packaging team; lead regular cross‑functional meetings, unblock operational challenges, and provide backup support during volume spikes or high‑risk periods.
What you’ll bring
  • Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in high‑volume manufacturing logistics, supply chain, or related field.
  • Knowledge of freight forwarding terms, standards, Incoterms, and cross‑border logistics operations across the US, Mexico, and Canada, including customs documentation and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with ERP and TMS systems; ability to identify process gaps and collaborate with systems teams to implement improvements.
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvement initiatives, including cost reduction and operational efficiency gains; strong problem‑solving and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Knowledge of SQL and Tableau preferred.
Benefits
  • Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction.
  • Family‑building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits.
  • Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with $0 paycheck contribution.
  • Company‑paid Health Savings Account (HSA) contribution when enrolled in the high‑deductible medical plan with HSA.
  • Healthcare and dependent‑care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
  • 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits.
  • Company‑paid basic life, AD&D.
  • Short‑term and long‑term disability insurance (90‑day waiting period).
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • Sick and vacation time (flex time for salary positions, accrued hours for hourly positions) and paid holidays.
  • Backup childcare and parenting support resources.
  • Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance.
  • Weight‑loss and tobacco cessation programs.
