Position: Engineering Program Manager (Medical Device)

The Engineering Program Manager plays a pivotal role in leading and supporting the cross-functional product development team. This position is central to guiding the planning and execution of development projects within a medical device development framework. The Engineering Program Manager is accountable for providing both strategic leadership and tactical execution across all project phases, ensuring the successful delivery of Company objectives that directly influence the advancement of innovative medical devices.

An ideal candidate would leverage leadership, organization, and collaboration to help ensure success for a variety of strategic projects and initiatives, translating them into actionable roadmaps, setting priorities, and aligning resources. Tactically, the role involves hands-on management of daily project operations, troubleshooting project execution challenges, coordinating site activities, and ensuring milestones are achieved on-time and within scope. Examples include developing bottom’s up schedules, identifying critical path, and conducting detailed project reviews to drive accountability and communicate broadly across the organization.

WHAT

YOU'LL DO
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the planning, development, execution, and management of engineering projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate milestones.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans that reflect strategic objectives, integrating timelines, resource allocation, and deliverable tracking for all program activities.
  • Act as the central point of contact, bringing together Research & Development, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical Affairs, Therapy Development, and Marketing teams to ensure clear communication and expectations are set.
  • Create and maintain tools to monitor project progress, proactively identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
  • Facilitate regular meetings, providing clear status updates to the program core team, capturing action items, and communicating decisions to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide clear, concise updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders, distilling complex details for executive decision-making.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes and best practices, with a focus on enhancing cross-functional collaboration and operational efficiency within the product development framework.
  • Analyze project timeline variances to recommend and implement action plans to eliminate or minimize schedule delays.
ABOUT YOU
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, life sciences, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in medical device project management.
  • Must be highly organized, skilled in planning, and proficient with project management tools and methodologies.
  • Candidate must be highly collaborative, possess good interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Able to lead and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve critical corporate and project objectives.
  • Must have working knowledge of ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820.
  • A demonstrated track record of medical device development and product commercialization processes (design control) success.
  • The candidate must be a great team player; possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; oversee multiple tasks/projects, and the ability to think strategically while attending appropriately to details.
  • Strong work ethic.
