What To Expect
We are looking for an exceptional maintenance leader with a wide skillset and deep understanding of equipment maintenance to join our Optimus team. The Manager will be responsible for managing, inspiring and developing a team made up of Associate Managers, Supervisors, Technicians and Leads. The successful candidate will have proven experience in all facets of manufacturing maintenance to support ramp‑up production and new models and/or equipment introduction when required.
They must be capable of collaborating with cross‑functional teams and department leaders to address concerns and issues that affect part quality, production efficiency, work cell ergonomics, equipment maintenance, etc. The successful candidate will also have exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and management skills, demonstrating the ability to be an innovator and change agent.
- Provide direct leadership of multiple maintenance crews supporting 24/7 operations, with heightened coordination and workload management during the Optimus line ramp‑up and launch phases and sustained operational support through mass production.
- Train, develop, and manage the maintenance team with emphasis on launch readiness and long‑term capability—implementing technical certification programs, new equipment training, and ongoing alignment with Engineering and Operations. Deliver timely equipment status and readiness reports throughout ramp‑up and steady‑state production.
- Develop and maintain maintenance procedures and schedules for new Optimus specific equipment and systems, ensuring adherence to safety standards. Continuously refine safety processes, support ramp‑up and production budgets, and coordinate contractor support for commissioning, startup, and continued mass production needs.
- Partner with Inventory Management to build and maintain a resilient spare parts strategy—ensuring critical spares, long‑lead components, and specialized tooling are in place for launch, while maintaining accurate inventory levels and system tracking throughout ongoing production.
- Improve Equipment Operational Availability and OEE by developing systems to monitor commissioning progress, track early‑life equipment performance, and identify improvement opportunities both during line stabilization and as the line scales into full volume production.
- Oversee breakdown management through launch and beyond, ensuring rapid troubleshooting, clear differentiation between immediate corrective actions and long‑term engineering solutions, and preventing repeat failures as the system transitions from startup to sustained operation.
- Set maintenance KPI targets and execution strategies aligned with ramp‑up milestones and mass production goals, ensuring disciplined performance across the maintenance organization and providing clear visibility into progress during scale‑up and steady state manufacturing.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical field preferred. 9+ years of experience in an equipment maintenance role and 6+ years of experience in a leadership role, preferred.
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal, plus experience working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of robotic and PLC controls programming skills; bonus if experience is with Fanuc robotic systems.
- Understanding of environmental and machine safety requirements and Lean manufacturing concepts with regard to equipment application and the need for continuous improvement.
- Experience and thorough knowledge of production systems and processes, experience managing teams of people in a production environment by working efficiently and productively in both independent and team settings.
- Able to remain engaged, proactive and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for team performance while working well under pressure and managing competing demands against tight deadlines.
