Job Purpose
The Materials Planner is responsible for translating engineering requirements and customer orders into actionable production schedules. This role ensures that materials, labor, and machinery are synchronized to meet rigorous deadlines while maintaining high technical standards and cost efficiency.
Nature of Duties- Develop and maintain detailed master production schedules (MPS) using ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Net Suite.
- Analyze plant capacity and labor availability to prevent bottlenecks and ensure smooth workflow through various technical work centers.
- Work closely with Engineering and Quality Assurance to incorporate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) into active production runs without disrupting lead times.
- Monitor raw material levels and sub-assemblies to ensure "Just in Time" (JIT) availability, minimizing excess stock while preventing line-down situations.
- Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and provide real-time updates to project managers and stakeholders regarding delivery timelines.
- Identify inefficiencies in the production cycle and implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and cycle time.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in production planning or manufacturing.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in overall sheet metal fabrication.
- Advanced proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros).
- Experience with NC/Laser and press-brake capability.
- Understanding of setup sheets for punching, laser-cutting, and forming.

Compensation & BenefitsSalary Range (annual): $80,000 – $97,000. Actual base pay within this range is based on a candidate’s years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills. The total rewards package includes health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, company-paid holidays, paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business, and eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and a discretionary bonus program.
