Apprentice Welder

Job Overview

Bloom Energy, a leading provider of clean, reliable, and affordable energy solutions, is hiring a Welder to join its Fremont, CA manufacturing team. This fully on‑site, in‑office role reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor.

• Read and interpret Work Instructions to determine specific welding requirements.
• Weld horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
• Position and clamp parts together in fixtures.
• Accurately count all pieces to ensure quality control of parts prior to welding.
• Operate welding equipment according to the operating manual.
• Complete required paperwork in a correct and timely manner.
• Operate hoist and power lift stand.
• Load and unload jigs.
• Perform leak‑testing checks on finished welding products.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures and/or Work Instructions exactly as written to produce a quality product.
• Fabricate components for use in a solid oxide fuel cell electrical power generator.
• Maintain all machine shop equipment and 5S upkeep.
• Notify management of shop consumables (e.g., cutting oils, welding gases, tooling and bits) to maintain inventory.
• Create assembly and fabrication fixtures.
• Address and recommend improved methods for creating hardware and assemblies.
• Perform basic job functions as directed safely and efficiently.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• One year of TIG welding experience preferred.
• Two to three years of hands‑on manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience in following required work instructions.
• Valid welding certificate from an accredited institution preferred.
• Mechanical skills and ability to use basic shop tools and equipment.

• Prolonged periods of standing and performing repetitive tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. at a time.
• Manual dexterity to assemble products as directed.
• Excellent hand‑eye coordination.
• Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). May be required to wear a respirator and pass a fit test.

Shift: Thursday – Saturday with an alternating Wednesday from 6pm–6am. Salary ranges from $24.37 to $35.07 per hour, with standard company benefits included.
