SEM provides comprehensive Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS), including PCB layout and design, thru-hole and surface mount assemblies, BGA rework and x-ray inspection, mechanical assembly, testing, packaging, delivery, and quick-turn prototypes.

This is a full-time, on-site Hand Soldering, Touch Up and Rework Technician role located in Fremont, CA. The technician will perform precision hand soldering on thru-hole and surface mount components, including fine-pitch and high-density assemblies, following IPC and company standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include inspecting boards, identifying defects, performing touch-up and rework on PCBs (component level), and ensuring work meets quality and reliability requirements.

The role involves interpreting assembly drawings and work instructions, using microscopes and soldering tools, and collaborating with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues and support timely delivery. The technician will also maintain a safe and organized workstation, document work performed, and support continuous improvement activities.

• Ability to work with electrical systems, including basic knowledge of electricity and safe handling of electrical equipment.
• Experience performing electrical maintenance and troubleshooting on electronic assemblies or related equipment.
• Familiarity with electrical engineering principles as they relate to PCB assembly, testing, or rework is beneficial.
• Strong hand soldering skills for thru-hole and SMT components, including rework and touch-up to IPC standards.
• Experience reading schematics, assembly drawings, and work instructions; comfort using microscopes and rework tools.
• Attention to detail, quality-focused mindset, and ability to follow standardized processes in a manufacturing environment.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, team-oriented production setting.
• Prior experience in electronics manufacturing or contract manufacturing is preferred; IPC certification is a plus.

Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 35 pounds, work in an ESD-controlled manufacturing environment, and perform repetitive tasks while following all safety procedures.

This position works in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment supporting high-mix, low-to-medium volume PCB assembly. Morning and evening shifts are available.
