Logistics Technician
The Logistics Technician will work as part of the logistics team to maintain high performance for all departmental standards including safety, timeliness, quality/accuracy, security, and productivity. Responsibilities will include receiving shipments, transferring materials to and from storage locations, packaging and palletizing products, and other tasks necessary for an efficient shipping and warehousing operation. The technician must aim to achieve high customer service standards consistently.
In addition, this person will also be expected to work proactively on multiple tasks with autonomy. Work schedule is 8 hours, 1st shift and/or possible modified 1st shift to support late afternoon shipments. Overtime work may be needed periodically.
- Drive a culture of "Do It Safe, Do It Right the First Time" with their actions and words on a daily basis.
- Through observation of work area(s), be alert to and avoid unsafe behaviors and conditions or other hazards. Report any observed hazards to the supervisor.
- Strictly adhere to all safety policies including, but not limited to HAZWOPER, Electronic Communications Policy (ECP), and LOTO policies.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings and promote a safe work environment.
- Safely and efficiently operate assigned tasks to meet the day-to-day productivity goals of the team.
- Follow all work processes and work instructions relevant to specific assignments.
- Prepare cylinders for shipments (removing old labels, painting, inspecting/checking, wrapping valve labeling with appropriate information per
*** and D.O.T requirements, barcode scanning, loading on pallets, etc.). - Perform shipping and receiving related ERP transactions.
- Ensure accuracy of all transactions within ERP to ensure accurate data for operational efficiency.

*** Policy and D.O.T regulations. - Contact common carriers and client's locations to coordinate delivery and pickup of cylinders and other materials.
- Ship, receive, and deliver supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Operate a forklift to load and unload carrier trucks.
- Load and unload sea containers including appropriate blocking and bracing in line with IMO, IMDG, and Customs requirements.
- Maintain inventory control records.
- Conduct inventory cycle counts.
- Escalate any potential safety or quality concerns.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
- Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
- Comply with all company safety policies and OSHA and MSDS standards.
- Successfully complete all assigned trainings.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3 years of relevant industry experience in logistics operations (shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, inventory management).
- Must be certified to drive a forklift.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to follow all work instructions and safety protocols.
- Ability to understand the properties and hazards associated with chemicals and compressed gases.
- Experience in filing IMO, AES, and ISF.
- Must be a quick learner with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain focus and adapt to a variety of challenges.
- Must be organized with attention to detail and ability to follow directions to meet deadlines.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be very capable of regular interaction with all support departments.
- Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Computer literate with Google Docs, Sheets, & Slides.
- Knowledge of 49 CFR, 15 CFR, DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations.
- Perform all required trainings as they are assigned.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
- Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
- Ensure that no alarms or interlocks are bypassed.
- Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety.
- Comply with all company safety policies and OSHA and MSDS standards.
- Must be able to move around a large warehouse for 8 or more hours in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Significant manual dexterity for keying in data for long periods of time.
- Ability to medically pass a respiratory test and physical test in order to wear a full face respirator as required.
