The Quality Engineer serves as the technical lead within the Quality Engineering team, overseeing complex manufacturing quality activities and guiding junior engineers. This role takes ownership of quality processes, inspection planning, and production monitoring for assigned projects or product lines, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and internal standards. The position provides technical guidance, mentors less experienced team members, and coordinates cross-functional quality initiatives.

The Quality Engineering department is responsible for ensuring product quality throughout the manufacturing lifecycle, from production setup to post-production support. The team monitors manufacturing performance, analyzes test data, drives yield improvement, and ensures compliance with customer requirements and industry standards. It works closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to identify risks, resolve quality issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of inspection plans for complex or high-impact projects, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Oversee the review and interpretation of Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) documentation to define inspection points, tools, and quality requirements.
  • Analyze production quality data to identify systemic trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Perform advanced root cause analysis for production failures and lead the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Quality Engineer level 1 and 2 team members, reviewing their work and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts with Test Engineering, Process Engineering, and suppliers to resolve complex quality issues and drive yield improvement.
  • Monitor manufacturing processes for compliance with quality standards and recommend process adjustments proactively.
  • Lead quality review meetings, presenting findings, metrics, and proposed improvements to internal stakeholders and management.
  • Manage line rejection investigations (LRR/VLRR), validate defect conditions, and implement team-wide actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Oversee customer-requested inspections for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and effective reporting.
  • Support supplier quality management by evaluating supplier performance, addressing material issues, and verifying corrective actions.
  • Strong expertise in quality engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and inspection techniques.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools for reporting and trend analysis.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting complex data and identifying systemic trends.
  • Experience leading root cause investigations and driving corrective and preventive actions across teams.
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical oversight and ensuring quality compliance.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to drive efficient improvements in product quality and operational performance.
  • Effective communication skills to influence cross-functional teams and present findings to stakeholders.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • 3-10 years of experience in supplier engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, or related roles.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
