Senior Scientist I, Technology Development

Fremont, California

At Alamar, we are passionate about enabling our customers to make scientific discoveries that translate into clinical outcomes and benefit patients. Our team is growing quickly as we develop innovative approaches to measure critical protein biomarkers from liquid samples that can enable the earliest possible detection of disease. We believe the next frontier in biology is enabled by measuring proteins at higher sensitivity in highly multiplexed assays at the push of a button, which is something only Alamar can do.

As we build our team, we seek collaborative, driven, intellectually curious people committed to solving complex challenges. Our culture rewards accountability and cross functional teamwork because we believe this enables the kind of breakthrough thinking that will accelerate our mission.

Alamar Biosciences is seeking a Senior Scientist, Technology Development to innovate technologies and products based on our proprietary NULISA™ platform, which enables highly sensitive, quantitative, and multiplexed biomarker measurements using qPCR and/or NGS readouts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in assay development, immunoassays, molecular biology, biochemistry, and data analysis, along with a passion for translating novel technologies into robust products.

This role will involve close collaboration with product development, bioinformatics, manufacturing, and software teams. • Perform rigorous data analysis and interpretation to guide technology and assay development decisions
  • Identify key variables impacting assay sensitivity, specificity, robustness, and reproducibility, and drive systematic optimization
  • Participate and present data in technical discussions and project meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with bioinformatics, product development, manufacturing, engineering, and software teams to enable end-to-end workflow integration
  • Support assay transfer, automation, and system-level integration onto Alamar’s proprietary instrument platform
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior scientists and contribute to team-level scientific excellence
  • Contribute to building and maintaining a strong, collaborative team culture
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD with 5+ years of experience in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in single-plex and multiplex immunoassay development
  • Hands‑on experience with reagent optimization for immunoassays and qPCR/NGS
  • Experience with qPCR /NGS assay optimization
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including team members and cross‑functional teams
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and balance laboratory and cross‑functional needs
  • Highly detail‑oriented with a strong focus on quality
  • Consistent, positive, and can‑do attitude
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferably PhD with 5+ years of industry experience, MS with 8+ years of industry experience or BS with 10+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience with immunoassay technologies such as NULISA, SIMOA, PEA, or similar technologies
  • Experience with optimizing multi‑color qPCR or NGS assays
  • Experience with calibration curve–based sample quantification

Prior experience leading or managing direct reports, including mentoring junior scientists or associates
  • Familiarity with data and record management platforms such as Benchling or Sci Note
