Job Overview
The Corporate Technology Center (CTC) Analytical group at TE Connectivity is seeking a Material Scientist II to support advanced materials characterization, root cause analysis, and R&D initiatives. This role partners closely with global business units to solve complex material challenges and enable new product and process development. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on laboratory professional with strong expertise in polymer/material science and analytical techniques, capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform advanced material characterization using techniques such as SEM/EDS, XRF, FTIR, Raman, TGA, DSC, DMA, and Rheology (rotational and capillary).
- Design and execute experiments to support R&D and business unit projects.
- Conduct root cause analysis of material and processing issues.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data; prepare comprehensive technical reports with clear conclusions.
- Develop, validate, and document test methods, protocols, and SOPs.
- Communicate effectively with internal customers regarding project scope, test plans, and results.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation; coordinate with vendors as needed.
- Document and upload results into centralized databases.
- Provide technical consultation on material selection, formulation, and processing.
- Conduct literature reviews and support technology scouting activities.
- Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant industry experience, or a Master’s degree in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Plastics Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of polymeric materials, material properties, and structure–property relationships.
- Knowledge of analytical techniques in rheology, spectroscopy, thermal analysis, and microscopy.
- Hands‑on experience with SEM/EDS, FTIR, DMA, Rheology, TGA, DSC, FTIR, XRF, Raman, and/or GC‑MS.
- Experience in failure analysis and root cause investigation.
- Familiarity with material formulation and processing techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Self‑motivated with ability to work independently.
- Effective communication and technical writing skills.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive mindset.
- Innovative and willing to explore new ideas in a lab environment.
- Hands‑on laboratory role requiring regular use of analytical instrumentation.
- Interaction with cross‑functional and global teams.
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $,800 (subject to change dependent on physical location).
- Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
- Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits.
