Multi-Purpose Clerk - Cashier - Food Maxx - 39441 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94538

The Multi-Purpose Clerk may be assigned to one of several departments within the store, including Center Store, Produce, Meat/Seafood, Bakery/Deli, or Janitorial. The Clerk promotes sales, answers customer questions, and processes special orders. Responsibilities include safe food handling, maintaining a clean and safe work area, receiving, inspecting, logging, stocking, rotating, and merchandising products to maintain freshness and department appeal.

• Center Store/Front End – Operate the check stand according to company policy and procedures; memorize PLU codes; manage receiving, stocking, rotating, and merchandising; perform POS and inventory activities.
• Produce – Receive, inspect, log products; trim, wash, and wrap produce; stock, rotate, and merchandise; maintain floral area; keep areas and equipment clean.
• Meat/Seafood – Receive, inspect, log products; weigh, wrap, label; stock, rotate, merchandise; provide customer service at the counter; take special orders; may operate equipment; keep areas and equipment clean.
• Bakery/Deli – Receive, inspect, log products; prepare, weigh, package, label; stock, rotate, merchandise; take special orders; may operate ovens, proofers, slicers, mixers; keep areas and equipment clean.
• Janitorial – Maintain cleanliness and sanitation; sweep and mop various areas; clean restrooms, break rooms, shelving, and equipment; may operate janitorial equipment.

• Sweep and mop sales floor, front end, back rooms, and refrigerated areas
• May operate forklift if authorized and certified
• May operate baler if authorized
• Perform other duties as assigned

Hiring pay range: $17.75 - 26.50

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Excellent customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills
• Ability to work with a sense of urgency and self-motivation
• Proactive, initiative, enthusiastic, and flexible on the job

High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) or additional job experience

Six months of related experience

Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours; must be at least 18 years of age

Requires standing and other physical movements on a frequent basis; requires lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance
