Smart & Final – a leading grocery warehouse store – is hiring for the Service Clerk – 424 Fremont role.

• The Service Clerk reports to the Store Manager/Senior Assistant Manager and is responsible for maintaining carts, assisting customers with purchases, checking prices on products, returning merchandise to store shelves, parking lot and store maintenance.
• Collect and organize shopping carts within the store and retrieve carts from the parking lot and surrounding areas.
• Assist customers with the loading of merchandise into shopping carts and provide assistance to load into vehicles.
• Check retail prices on shelves for check stand personnel.
• Pull merchandise from check stand (“go backs”) and return it to the proper shelf; walk aisles and return misplaced items to their proper location and face merchandise on aisles as needed.
• Monitor cleanliness of store entrance: sweep front area inside and outside and pick up and empty trash regularly throughout the day; mop outside walkways and clean entrance/exit doors daily.
• Monitor cleanliness of store throughout the day: sweep, mop, clean and restock restrooms as needed.

• Read and write English, interact with general public and coworkers.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 45 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds.
• Basic PC/Outlook skills (preferred).
• Retail Management Certificate (preferred).
