Job Summary
- National Account Manager (NAM) develops and executes strategic account plans to optimize access, sales, and outcomes for Akebia’s approved product by building partnerships with Large/Medium Dialysis Organizations (LDOs/MDOs) and with Nephrology Large Group Practices (LGPs) and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs).
- Drive dialysis pull-through of national account strategies, align and execute LDO/MDO strategies for Vafseo adoption, and coordinate with National Account Directors and Medical Affairs.
- Primary region:
Northern California (San Francisco, Fresno, Oakland/Fremont, Sacramento).
- Build national/regional account strategies aligned to business objectives.
- Secure/expand Vafseo access; support account adoption.
- Lead strategic business planning and quarterly business reviews with account executives.
- Develop programs with LDO/MDO leadership (RVPs, Area Directors, RQMs) and LGPs.
- Support Regional Medical Director/physician programs.
- Communicate clinical, business, and health economic data; advocate for utilization.
- Maintain customer profiles/affiliations and meet MBO metrics; manage organizational change communications.
- Work with Medical Affairs; analyze information and present insights to drive behavior change.
- Partner with Legal/Regulatory/Compliance on communication strategies.
- Manage HCP pull-through for initiatives; collaborate internally for territory planning.
- Travel up to 50% within the U.S.
Required:
- BA/BS required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience in renal or similar therapeutic space.
- Proven account management track record.
- 10+ years biopharmaceutical industry experience.
- Relationships with national dialysis customers and/or nephrology LGPs.
- Strategic partnership development; strong planning, communication, negotiation, compliance mindset; team selling.
- Renal reimbursement logistics knowledge; CMS TDAPA knowledge a plus.
- Targeted Base Salary: $178,664–$220,703 USD.
