What you will do in this role:
You will be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Employees in this classification work under the direct supervision of a supervisor or a higher‑level employee or Lead.
- Employees in this classification independently maintain, repair and install sprinkler systems and landscape elements throughout the campus. They also maintain decorative and landscape fountains while monitoring the fountain water levels, circulation and clarity.
- Sprinkler/Landscape Specialists receive minimal supervision; they must be able to identify issues and determine corrections for significant repairs or installations. Systems are both technical and manual; employees must understand, and problem‑solve within both. Consults with lead and/or supervisor to implement corrective actions.
- May assume lead’s role during the lead’s absence.
- Estimate types of materials and quantities needed on a daily basis; assist with estimates for projects including the take‑offs of materials and labor hours.
- Install complete irrigation systems.
- Install filters, concrete pads, enclosures, and controller pedestals.
- Perform maintenance duties on the weather station (including cleaning of the gauges) and take appropriate action to resolve issues and/or concerns.
- Respond to emergency calls regarding irrigation related problems.
- Troubleshoot centralized computer control systems.
- May perform any of the duties described in the Sprinkler/Landscape Tech II specification or other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role you must bring:
- High School diploma or GED
- Three years sprinkler/irrigation and landscape experience required or a combination of equivalent education and work experience.
- Valid California Non‑commercial Class C Driver's license.
- Ability to install, design and maintain landscape and irrigation projects from plan development to completion with little or no guidance.
- Ability to read project plans and estimate materials from plans as needed.
