Tesla's Bay Area Prototype Fabrication Shop is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Fabricator to join the team and contribute to Tesla's mission.

The Prototype Fabrication Team provides engineers and technicians across the organization with complex and critical fabricated components and assemblies to meet the most aggressive program objectives. Through close collaboration with a world‑class team of fellow fabricators, machinists, engineers, and leadership, we enhance the design of systems and products from concept through production by bringing intangible ideas to the physical world.

As a Prototype Fabricator, you will contribute to a range of projects from concept and pre‑production vehicles, energy systems, artificial intelligence, robotics, and other future‑facing initiatives. • Efficiently plan workflow, prep materials, and fabricate simple to complex components and assemblies
• Welding, TIG, MIG, CMT, in a variety of positions and materials
• Machining, set up and operation of manual lathe, manual mill, and measurement tools
• Sheet metal, program and operate Waterjet, Lasers, CNC Press Brake, and manual equipment
• Read, interpret, and build to 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, weld symbols and GD&T
• Proactively track, document, and provide direct feedback with clear communication to management, engineers, and other fabricators on design, process, project status and outcomes
• Provide feedback to engineers and management on process and design improvements
• Identify, present, plan, and implement shop improvements
• Maintain shop equipment and keep your workplace clean and organized
• Perform all assignments in a safe manner while adhering to security policies

• 5+ years of experience in Fabrication environment
• Proficiency with TIG, MIG, Mill, Lathe, Forklift, common shop equipment, and a variety of hand tools
• Basic CAD skills with ability to load and interrogate models and assemblies
• Excellent communication skills with ability to develop and present technical information through verbal, email, text, phone, Microsoft Office suite, and other digital communication platforms
• Ability to remain positive and focused in demanding scenarios under tight deadlines
• Ability to learn and quickly gain proficiency with shop software (waterjet, laser, press brake, CAD)
• Excellent mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, analytical skills, and time management
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively both independently and as a team with minimal supervision
• Flexibility with ability to work overtime on short notice based on strategic needs of the company

$27.52 - $55.80/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
