Job Summary
Provide case management and peer counseling to Narika clients. Work closely with the Director of Programs to manage and respond to Narika’s Helpline
Essential Functions- Answer Narika’s Helpline and provide peer counseling, resources, and safety planning.
- Provide ongoing case management and crisis counseling to Narika clients.
- Encourage cross referrals and communication across Narika direct service programs, such as SEED and H.E.A.L.
- Develop relationships with peer networks and create networks of referrals and resources for survivors and advocates, attend meetings, and participate in sub-committees.
- Support Narika’s 40-hour DVAT trainings, in close coordination with the Narika Management team
- Maintain client case records, documentation, and relevant records and statistics, and provide weekly, monthly, and yearly reports to the Director of Programs
- Assist in filing grant reports
- Attend weekly staff meetings and participate in Narika events.
- Any other responsibility prescribed by the Director of Programs.
- Reports to the Director of Programs.
- Minimum 1 year of demonstrated work experience in case management, crisis intervention or crisis counseling, especially with diverse communities, and/or a degree in related fields such as psychology, social work, etc.
- Ability to work independently in a direct service setting
- Completed California state-mandated 40-hour domestic violence advocate training or be willing to complete it within three months of joining.
- Fluency in a South Asian language, especially Hindi, Nepali, Punjabi, Farsi, or Dari
- Familiarity with South Asian culture and community
- Knowledge of the issues involved in intimate partner violence
- Ability to work with diverse people and communities with awareness of socio-economic and cultural barriers.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to dynamic situations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
- Driver’s license and insurance
- Background in psychology, counseling, or social work is desirable
- Experience in program coordination
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Some weekend and evening hours as program needs arise
