Job Description & How to Apply Below
is seeking a Senior Engineer to own and evolve our Node.js-based platform serving thousands of
parking, car wash, and automotive service locations. You'll build scalable backend systems and user-facing
applications that directly power our merchant ecosystem and customer experiences in the field.
This is an in-office role at our headquarters with regular visits to deployed SaaS sites and partner locations.
You'll be on an 8am–8pm on-call rotation, ensuring our systems remain reliable during peak operational
hours.
Key Responsibilities- Full-stack development – Design and implement backend services, APIs, and frontend features using Node.js, React, and supporting technologies.
- System architecture – Collaborate on scalable solutions for high-throughput transaction processing, membership systems, and real-time reporting.
- Site partnerships – Visit car wash tunnels, parking lots, and service bays to understand merchant workflows, troubleshoot integrations, and gather product insights.
- On-call support – Respond to production incidents and critical issues during the 8am–8pm rotation; diagnose root causes and deploy fixes.
- Code quality – Establish best practices for testing, documentation, and code review; mentor junior engineers.
- Performance optimization – Monitor system health, optimize database queries, and improve response times across the platform.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 3+ years building full-stack applications.
- Strong proficiency in Node.js and backend architecture (Express, NestJS, or similar).
- Solid frontend skills with React or equivalent modern framework.
- Experience designing and optimizing relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Comfortable working in-office full-time at headquarters.
- Able to travel to field locations (stores, service sites) for integration support and stakeholder engagement.
- Available for on-call duty during 8am–8pm windows with rapid response expectations.
- Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills in production environments.
- Experience with payment processing or SaaS integrations.
- Familiarity with IoT/hardware integrations (RFID readers, LPR cameras, point-of-service systems).
- Background in automotive, hospitality, or QSR tech environments.
- Knowledge of Redis, message queues, or real-time data streaming.
- Experience deploying and maintaining applications on AWS or GCP.
- Ability to design and configure small networked environments with multiple interconnected devices.
- Proficiency with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, or similar).
- Efficient in Linux system administration, including machine management and service configuration.
- Comfort with cross-functional collaboration between product, sales, and operations teams.
- Pragmatic problem-solver – You balance speed and quality; you know when to iterate fast and when to invest in stability. You listen closely to customer needs and actively contribute to shaping better experiences by discussing feasible solutions with stakeholders.
- Proactive engineer – You anticipate bottlenecks and address technical debt before it affects users, not after.
- Field-minded engineer – You understand that great software serves real users doing real work. You’re willing to get your hands dirty—literally, visiting stores to see how our platform is used.
- Self-directed – You own your projects end-to‑end and communicate proactively with stakeholders.
- On-call mindset – You’re responsive, methodical under pressure, and committed to keeping our merchants operational.
- Mobile-aware – Some experience with mobile development (Android in particular) is a plus and will be valued in the role.
- Scale impact quickly – Our platform processes thousands of daily transactions across a growing national network.
- Direct customer insight – Regular store visits mean you see product impact firsthand.
- Ownership culture – You’ll work on features from concept through production, with real autonomy.
- Collaborative team – Work alongside mission-driven engineers, product managers, and operations leaders.
- Learning environment – Build expertise in full-stack systems, payments, IoT integrations, and multitenant SaaS.
- Location – In-office at headquarters (no remote work).
- On-call rotation – 8am–8pm availability for critical production issues.
- Travel – ~10–15% of time visiting partner locations and SaaS deployment sites.
- Hours – Standard full-time (occasional extended hours during on-call shifts or critical deployments).
