Position OverviewThis is a leadership position involving the independent application of advanced accounting principles and practices to a wide range of financial accounts and records within an established accounting system. Work responsibilities include updating, reconciling and maintaining facility accounts receivable and accounts payable ledgers, updating, reconciling and maintaining individual student payment accounts and compiling statistical information and preparing financial statements and reports.
An employee within this classification is expected to use independent judgment in making decisions within the context of professional edicts and departmental policies and procedures. General supervision is received from an administrative superior with work reviewed in the form of compliance with financial policies and procedures and overall accuracy. Employees in this classification will provide leadership over other accounting and clerical staff.
of Work Performed
- Process the Accounts Payable Requisition s for payment of vendor invoices.
- Maintain records of campus utility consumption.
- Complete journal entries to ensure all accounts are accurate and up-to-date.
- Check incoming accounts payable forms for errors before processing
- Batch documents and enter into accounting system for payment
- Process utility payments and maintain records of utility consumption
- Coding of state purchasing and travel cards
- Calculate indirect costs for TRIO and Upward Bound grants and complete the appropriate journal entry quarterly or as requested
- Journal entries as requested both from within our department and across campus (corrections of GL coding and/or budget codes)
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s degree in accounting or bookkeeping or two years’ of supervisory experience in accounting or bookkeeping or any combination of skills, knowledge and abilities that meet these requirements.
